This is a story about family, architecture, and World War II. My father left Czechoslovakia in 1938 to escape the Nazis.

In 1939, my grandparents, Alfred and Rosa, and their youngest child, Ditta, then age 16, arrived in England after fleeing Czechoslovakia.
